About the Society
The Michigan Infectious Disease Society evolved out of a meeting of I.D. specialists from the three Michigan Medical Schools during the early 1970’s. In 1985 a group of clinical and teaching I.D. physicians met and agreed to begin a formal organization structured after the parent Infectious Disease Society of America.

MIDS holds three meetings per year; the annual business and scientific session in March, a social gathering during the annual IDSA meeting, and a joint scientific forum with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services in November. There are approximately 210 members representing the clinical and scientific community, and I.D. physicians in training throughout the state.
